Rolex has proudly been associated with the world acclaimed Principal dancer Chan Hon Goh for some years now and has chosen her to be the ambassador of the company in Canada. Born in 1969 in Beijing, China, Chan Hon Goh and her parents shifted base to Vancouver Canada in 1976 during the tumultuous political situation in China. Both her parents were principal dancers in the National Ballet of China and after settling in Canada established the famed Goh Ballet Academy in Canada. Beginning her dancing career in 1978 at the Vancouver Academy of Music, Chan Hon Goh subsequently entered the National Ballet of Canada in the year 1988. Her incredible sense of movement, timing and the desire to grow got her progressing quickly and soon in 1990 she was appointed Second Soloist. In 1992 she progressed to become the First Soloist and then in 1994 she became a principal dancer. Trained by the best choreographers that include her parents, her husband Chun Che (the former Principal Dancer at the National Ballet of China) and the renowned British dancer and choreographer Anton Dolin, Chan Hon Goh won the Prix de Lausanne in 1986 and a silver medal in the Genée International Ballet Competition in 1988.
Author of the book ‘Beyond the Dance: A Ballerina’s Life’, Chan Hon Goh has been able to take ballet to a whole new standard and broken all parameters that try to shackle the elusive dream of dance. A gifted classicist who employs ground breaking technique, refinement, incredible artistry and spectacular characterizations, Chan Hon Goh is celebrated around the world for her unique style and absolute perfection of movement. Dancing in lead roles of the Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Taming of the Shrew, Madam’s Butterfly, Giselle and the Sleeping Beauty, Chan Hon Goh has perfected the art of ballet and dexterity of movement.
